If you have planned to go to Cambodia on your next trip, you have made an excellent choice. To call this country just beautiful would be a major understatement because the scenery is stunning, and you will get to see many wonders on the trip around the country. In case you choose to stay in one place, you still get to experience many things that will take your breath away. With that being said, here are three of the most amazing locations in Cambodia.

Angkor Wat, Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is considered an icon of this country, and if you find yourself in Siem Reap, it is a must see. The temple is a World Heritage Archeological Site, but the place is absolutely stunning. Of course, do not spend all day visiting the temple, but rent a bike and explore all the surrounding areas. There are many places to see such as Roulous Group, Ta Ken, and Ta Phrom. However, the location tends to be crowded at times, so if you do not like a place full of people, maybe you will not like it as much. Even so, you must not let such a little matter ruin a place full of history and wonder. Quick tip: if you want to see the temple in its entire splendor, wake up early and watch the sun rise behind the temple. The image will never escape your mind.

Beng Mealea, Siem Reap Province

While still in Siem Reap, you can go about 40 km east of Angkor Wat and visit the Beng Mealea. It is an ancient ruin that has been eaten by nature, which is why you will see trees and foliage coming out of stone. The towers and courtyard are filled with thriving bushes. Some people say that this makes the site un-restored, but it adds a particular charm to it. It depicts the natural state of an ancient building. Restoring it would ruin its magic, but not all people can think alike.

Just like with the Angkor Wat, Beng Mealea can be overcrowded at times. You can take advantage of the fact nobody wakes up too early in the morning while on vacation, and visit the site then. It will be worth your while.

La Plantation, Kampot

It would be a shame to go to a foreign country without trying out its cuisine, which is why you should go to the pepper farms in Kampot. The road that you take to get to the plantation is usually taken by bike, but keep in mind that you are in for a bumpy ride. However, a bike will allow you to stop many times and take incredible pictures of the plantation. The tours are free, so you get to learn a lot about the farms as well.

Getting to the food part, you do not have to buy a meal when you get on the plantation, but it would be a shame not to. You cannot begin to imagine how fresh pepper spices your food.

Before traveling to Cambodia, remember to prepare the proper documentation. If you are lucky, you may be eligible for a Cambodia evisa. The process of obtaining it is entirely online, and you only need a passport and a few other documents. The passport photos can also be acquired online. If you do not qualify for an electronic visa, you need a consular one. Either way, Cambodia is worth your effort, and you will soon see for yourself.
